Ken McKibben
Founder/Trainer
Ken grew up in Birmingham, AL, and is one of the original founders of MediaMerge. He has been involved in all aspects of presentation technology for over 20 years. In his early career he toured extensively in a rock band, managed a college radio station and was 1st engineer of a nationally recognized recording studio. Ken is well-versed in video production and has served as a technical consultant for multiple film/video shoots and provided consulting on projects for HGTV, Food Network, DIY and GAC cable networks. He is also an accomplished lighting designer with extensive experience in photorealistic 3D modeling.
Ken has the heart of a teacher, and is energized by the sense of empowerment people get from understanding how technology can enhance (or in some cases derail) worship experiences. His goal is to help churches use these tools in a culturally relevant way that draws people into the message of the Gospel.
Theo Metz, CTS
Trainer
Theo Metz is a musician, composer, audio engineer, sound designer and systems integrator. He earned his Bachelor of Music with honors from William Paterson University and his Masters of Music from SUNY Purchase. He has been the principle audio engineer for many venues across the US and has toured extensively in Europe, Asia, and North America. He has worked as radio engineer at WBHM and as a theatrical sound designer for a wide range of projects. Theo has served as adjunct professor at William Paterson University, Montclair State University, and Ramapo College teaching music technology, live sound engineering, and theatrical sound design.
Theo believes sound engineering is a craft endowed with a great deal of power and responsibility. He is passionate about educating others and is fulfilled by seeing sound teams achieve a better understanding of their craft, which ultimately leads to a better experience for everyone involved.
William Cook, CTS
Trainer
As a teenager in Decatur, Alabama, William discovered his calling as an AV technician at his home church. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama where he was a student employee for Crimson Tide Productions. While in college he worked in audio operation and technical directing for Alabama Athletics events and later for the SEC Network. He later traveled the country extensively with NBC Sports and Fox Sports as a Broadcast Engineer providing engineering support for the audio crew, which won multiple Sports Emmys. William currently oversees project management at MediaMerge.
William is a firm believer in seeing the "big picture". He believes that whether you consider your system to be top-tier or you feel like there's room for improvement, an underutilized operator can absolutely make or break your service. Training the members of your team provides the finishing touch to your big picture.
