The Franklin Theater is one of the many attractions at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA. The theater is used to present digital 3D films, live lectures, giant screen favorites re-mastered in 3D and live events with digital 3D content. MediaMerge was hired to convert the 1930’s era theater into a modern digital venue.
The sound system includes the ability to play 5.1 surround sound tracks. MediaMerge installed new loudspeakers and subwoofers behind the screen with surround speakers down the sides of the audience area.
The projection screen was removed and replaced with a high-contrast perforated screen. The screen delivers superb image quality for 3D films and is acoustically transparent.
The lighting system was updated and includes conventional fixtures with intelligent moving fixtures for spotlighting during special presentations.
The control system includes a custom-designed user interface that delivers touchscreen control of the sound, video and lighting systems.
