MediaMerge announced Monday, May 19, 2003, that it has entered into agreements to provide technical support to the IMAX Theaters at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, and the Gulf Coast Exploreum in Mobile, Alabama.
MediaMerge, in cooperation with the IMAX Corporation, will be responsible for providing preventative maintenance and technical support for the theaters’ world-class audio and 70mm projection systems.
“The whole approach looks good to us. [MediaMerge] fills a very good niche,” states Mike Sullivan, an early pioneer of the IMAX theater industry. Sullivan started in 1971 as the Director of the Ruben H. Fleet Science Center IMAX Theater in San Diego, California, the first IMAX theater to open in the United States. Since then Sullivan has consulted on more than fifty IMAX theaters worldwide and now serves as the Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Exploreum. “It’s an excellent service that [MediaMerge] is providing, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”
